This episode features Jenna Spinelle, co-host and lead interviewer for the show Democracy Works. Produced by the McCourtney Institute for Democracy at Penn State and WPSU Penn State, this show seeks to answer questions about what it means to live in a democracy: they get into the structure and history behind this foundational framework.
Jenna shares her experiences and insights into bringing dense academic materials and conversations to life for an audience that includes academics and nonacademics alike. Her co-hosts are academics as are many of her guests. Her role, as she sees it, is largely about being a bridge builder between the academy and the general public. Along the way, she helps others cross this divide as well.
This is an excellent episode for any creative who aims to bring complicated ideas to a wider audience.
