Wellness Mama Podcast

What is your show about?
The Wellness Mama Podcast is one of the most popular podcasts for women and moms, reaching over 1.5 million listeners per month and interviewing guests on the topics of health, wellness, parenting, science, and mental health.
What makes your Point Of View unique in your niche/market?
In the very male dominated health space in podcasting, the Wellness Mama podcast offers a unique female approach to a wider variety of health topics. Tackling everything from various health choices to rapid learning and mental health, Katie always takes a unique approach with her guests to draw out their story and learn from their experience.
What is one thing you’ve learned that you want to share with other podcasters?
The power of the sound of silence! When I first started, I had a lot of questions pre-written for each guest and would jump in as soon as a guest stopped talking. Over time, I’ve learned how to let a few seconds of silence do the work and that this often draws out an important and impactful comment from the guest.
What is your podcasting superpower?
Tackling the tough subjects. It’s a big deal for a girl who was formerly afraid of conflict! My time in podcasting has taught me the value of taking on touch subjects (and guests I disagree with) to be an example of having respectful dialogue and learning from someone I may not agree with. Too often in today’s world, especially the online world, there is division, arguing and name calling when people disagree. I strive to be an example of how it is possible to have a kind, loving and respectful conversation with someone I disagree with so that we can both learn from each other.
What else would you like to share with the podcasting world?
Podcasting is a literal and metaphorical example of how a person can use just once voice to help change the world. I got into health and wellness when my own health problems left me almost non-functional and found my way back to health through intense research. In doing so, I also found out just how much the current generation of children will face in their lifetime and made it my goal to help change these statistics. I love writing (my background is in print journalism) but podcasting opened a whole new world for me and a way to teach and learn in a whole new way.
