The people behind great podcasts

Welcome to second edition of our Creator Spotlight series, where we highlight the people behind the podcasts and the thoughtful work they’re bringing into the world!

The Life of Letters Podcasts is a show for stationery lovers, pen pals, letter writers and anyone who loves slow living and analogue creativity.

Hosted by Laura Edralin and produced by Heidi Cullip, the show brings together calligraphers, historians, artists, and letter writers who spend a lot of time thinking about how writing works. How scripts are learned. How letters are made. How paper, ink, and tools shape what we say and how we say it.

Some episodes focus on specific scripts and traditions. Spencerian, Engrossers, expressive calligraphy, historical alphabets, and writing systems that have faded from everyday use. Laura’s guests talk about where these scripts come from, what they were designed to do, and why people are still drawn to them now.

There is also a steady conversation about creative work over the long term. Many guests run small businesses or personal practices centered on handwriting and analogue craft. They speak openly about sustainability, burnout, and choosing work that unfolds gradually instead of chasing speed or scale.

Host Name:Laura Edralin
Location:London, UK
Favorite beverage:Coffee…and Tea…anything warm and cosy 🙂
Surprising hobby:Football
Current obsession:Book Nooks
Recording/editing tip:Have a script / notes, set up earlier than you think, relax and make your guest comfortable. Leave plenty of space for chat and fumbles and errors all welcome. Have fun!

It’s not all about the craft and history of letters though. Laura talks to a psychologist about the phenomenon of seeing letters as colors, a graphologist about analyzing handwriting (including that of a serial killer!), and brands tell their stories of supporting the world of penmanship and letter-lovers globally.

Across the catalog, Life of Letters returns to a few shared ideas. Writing by hand as a way to slow down. Skill built through years of practice. Letters as physical traces of human connection. Creativity shaped by attention rather than efficiency. We particularly enjoyed the episodes on Arabic calligraphy with Ruh Al-Alam and the most recent episode about ancient inscriptions with Dr. George Gazis.

Laura mentioned she was drawn to starting a podcast for a “creative outlet creative outlet that felt slower and more intentional, and podcasting felt like a natural extension of letter writing.” When listening, we felt that dedication in her interviews; thoughtful and unhurried. Her advice for other podcasters is “plan it out and stick to it! Deadlines really help, and batching episodes makes a big difference.”

Life of Letters is a podcast for listeners who enjoy thoughtful conversations and care about how things are made and we can attest to that. It rewards patience. It invites focus. And it leaves you with a clearer sense of why handwriting and correspondence continue to matter, perhaps even more in our increasingly digital and fast moving lives.
