Fair Use Policy
Castos plans include unlimited podcasts and unlimited episodes, with no per-upload limit. This fair use policy explains where that has practical limits: how many episodes appear in a podcast’s public RSS feed, bulk publishing, and accounts that host podcasts at a larger scale.
Why we have an episode limit
The overwhelming majority of shows never come close to it. It exists so that a small number of very long-running or very high-frequency shows don’t produce a public feed so large it slows down for listeners and podcast apps, or puts a disproportionate load on our infrastructure relative to the rest of our customers.
The 1,000-episode limit
Each podcast’s public RSS feed includes up to the 1,000 most recent episodes. If a show passes 1,000 episodes, older ones drop out of the live feed automatically as new ones are added, oldest first.
What doesn’t change
- Storage and uploads are still unlimited. You can upload as many episodes as you want; there’s no cap on what’s stored in your account.
- Downloads and streams are still unlimited.
- Older episodes stay in your Castos dashboard. They keep their direct URLs, remain downloadable, and stay accessible there even once they’re no longer in the public feed.
If your show is already over 1,000 episodes
We’ll reach out to talk through options before anything changes in your feed.
Bulk publishing
Podcasting runs on open RSS, and that only works while directories and listening apps can trust what’s in them. Unlimited podcasts doesn’t cover publishing large numbers of near-identical or filler shows to multiply listings, such as the same audio repackaged under different titles or in many languages, even when no copyright is broken.
Accounts publishing this way may be reviewed. We may turn off their access to our direct directory integrations, unpublish the feeds involved, or suspend the account under our Terms of Service.
Networks, agencies, and stations
Essentials is built for individual creators and small teams. If hosting podcasts is a main part of your business, such as running a network, agency, production company, or radio station, Growth, Pro, or Castos Premium will usually fit better.
There’s no fixed number of podcasts that triggers this, and nothing changes automatically. If an account’s use goes well beyond what its plan is meant for, we may get in touch to talk about moving to a plan that fits.
Reselling Castos
You may not resell Castos, in whole or in part, without our written agreement. If you want to offer Castos hosting as part of a service to your clients, email [email protected] and we’ll agree on the right plan and permissions.
