The people behind great podcasts
Great podcasts start with great people. The Castos Creator Spotlight is a twice-monthly series featuring creators in our community, exploring the stories, craft, and passion behind their shows.
Brendon Orr spent about a year planning Podmasana Media before launching it in November 2025. He is a yoga teacher of twelve years and a media professional of twenty-one. Ask him how it’s going and he’ll tell you:
“I am just an actor on the stage and the universe is directing. Most of the growth and reception seems to be happening with support from a power beyond whatever it is that I am bringing to the table.”
What he is bringing to the table is considerable.
The flagship podcast is Podmasana: intimate conversations about spiritual awakening, meditation, and wisdom traditions across Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, indigenous practices, and contemporary spiritual movements. His guests have included a pulmonologist who argued before India’s Supreme Court for the right to die with dignity, a carpenter living six years past a stage four cancer prognosis, and a geologist who spent three years in a Buddhist retreat. The episodes open with four or five minutes of introduction that read more like essays than show notes.
“The vision for Podmasana was to create a show for the spirituality space that didn’t exist in terms of format and production,” Brendon said. “It seems to be finding a growing audience as each month passes.”
By January 2026, only two months in, the show had more guest inquiries than it could handle. They are now selective about who comes on.
Brendon and his budding podcast network has two shows as well:
- YogaScussion is a dedicated podcast for the yoga world. He saw a gap in that space and decided to fill it.
- My Mindful Moment is a short-form show made entirely of listener submissions. Anyone can record a moment, something that left them feeling more present or more aware, and email it in. Brendon submitted the first episode himself, a quiet story about a walk with his aging dog and what the universe seemed to be saying. The address is [email protected].
A third show is planned for later this year.
He has been an early adopter of Castos Campaigns and plans to expand into sponsor messages by year’s end. Podmasana+ members get a private premium feed with early, ad-free access and exclusive content.
When we asked what a win looks like: “The journey of this work is the reward. But we will be very touched if we can connect with the right sponsors who are interested in becoming sustaining sponsors as we close in on one year of publication.”
New to the network? Start with Brendon’s own episode of My Mindful Moment: a short and touching story about a walk with his aging dog Amelia and what the universe seemed to be saying. It’s a good introduction to who he is and what he’s building.
