When your recording is finished, your next step is to prepare your files for editing. First, you’ll need to locate where the audio files are saved on your computer. You can change the location that they’re saved in by going to the Skype Call Recorder preferences settings.
The Skype Call Recorder also comes with some useful applications. Look for a folder called Movie Tools and select Split Movie Tracks or Split Side of Conversation. Drag the file of your audio recording into the pop-up box, and it will create two sides of the conversation. This will allow you to edit each side of the conversation separately. This is useful if, for example, you and your guest need different adjustments to the volume of the audio.
Splitting the conversation will give you two different files. That means that when you’re ready to edit, you’ll need to remember to move both files into Audacity. Then you’ll be ready to edit.

- Set your preferences for where your recordings are saved in the Skype Call Recorder preferences settings
- Split the conversation into two files using Split Movie Tracks or Split Side of Conversation in the Movie Tools folder
