When you need to do a remote interview on your podcast, Skype is a free tool that will allow you to do that. You can use Skype Call Recorder by Ecamm to record the call.
After you’ve downloaded Skype Call Recorder, open up Skype and choose to do a test call. This will give you the opportunity to test out your settings. You’ll be able to see the Skype Call Recorder on the right side of your screen. It has a record button, volume monitoring, and a timer showing the duration of the call.
Start the test call and hit record. Look at the Call Recorder’s volume monitoring box. You should be able to see your own volume as well as the volume metering from the other end of the call. You won’t be able to change the volume of the incoming call, but if it’s too loud, you can ask your guest to stand further away from their mic or turn the input volume down on their end.
